About
Allison Smith, PhD, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am passionate about working with couples to strengthen their connection, improve communication, navigate conflict, and deepen intimacy.
My couples work emphasizes understanding patterns, increasing emotional attunement, and building a solid foundation for lasting, fulfilling relationships. I also work with individuals who are navigating relationship challenges and want support in understanding their emotions, clarifying needs, and setting healthy boundaries. Together, we focus on practical strategies and insight to help you show up more effectively in your relationships and create greater connection and satisfaction.
My educational background includes a Doctorate (PhD) in Family Sciences from the University of Kentucky, where my work specialized in sexuality and intimate relationships across the lifespan. Additionally, I hold two graduate certificates in Gerontology and Applied Statistics, a Master's Degree in Family Sciences with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I am Gottman Level 1 and 2 trained and have completed an Externship for Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I have been working with clients in private practice since 2018, and have had my own practice since April of 2021. On a personal level, I am married and am a mother of two. In my free time, I love to read, go on walks, and snuggle my cats.
